The sacred part of you that lets it rip

Recently I created an event called The New Way Live. I could probably do with less planning and organizing this year (lots of business stuff, global travel- ya know) but the soul wants what the soul wants. I know exactly why my soul commanded that I create this event… because it desperately wanted a platform where I, and others, could just let it rip. No censoring, no editing, no tailoring words to try and fit the cookie cut, no trying to sound good and no holding back for the fear of criticism. That’s not art to me. I am obsessed with watching people create, give, and speak without inhibition. It’s the most beautiful art on earth to me- the soul on display. I study it, read about it, watch and observe people who are living it and my soul does a dance that would rival Michael Jackson’s, every time I think about it.

I heard this this morning while listening to Steven Pressfield (I freaking LOVE him. What a badass. The war of art is in my top 5 rotation).

I know some of you will appreciate it as much as I do… The message? Your soul isn’t offended, scared, worried or affected. When you realize where your art comes from, you begin to create without excuse.

“Have you seen interviews with the young John Lennon or Bob Dylan, when the reporter tries to ask about their personal selves? The boys deflect these queries with withering sarcasm. Why? Because Lennon and Dylan know that the part of them that writes the songs is not “them,” not the personal self that is of such surpassing fascination to their boneheaded interrogators. Lennon and Dylan also know that the part of themselves that does the writing is too sacred, too precious, too fragile to be redacted into sound bites for the titillation of would-be idolators (who are themselves caught up in their own Resistance). So they put them on and blow them off.” Steven Pressfield

Where are you trying to create from? The place of you thats easily offended? Hurt? Worried? Afraid? Hesitant?

You’ve got the wrong spot, my friend. Dig deeper, and feel the freedom that comes from being led by the sacred part of you that doesn’t fear anything but the thought of holding back.

Love to you. #jess X
